Understanding the Different Salon Brushes

In order to take care of your nail salon brushes properly you need to first understand the difference between them. There are literally hundreds of different brushes to choose from and here you will find out more about three main types.

Gel brushes are created using synthetic hair. They require specialised cleaning with a proper cleaning solution. When storing them they need to be kept in an airtight container and ideally you should clean them after each use.

Nail art brushes come in a large variety of sizes and styles. If you use them in paint then they simply need cleaning in water. However if you use them with varnish then you will need to use a remover product to clean them. Obviously you will need to clean the brush each time it has been used to prevent the bristles from becoming hard and useless.

It is liquid and powder brushes that you mainly need to be wary of however.

Looking After your Liquid and Powder Brushes

Looking after liquid and powder brushes is not as simple as you would imagine. First of all they should only ever be cleaned in liquid monomer. All other cleaning products can seriously damage the brush and so liquid monomer is the only way to go. However, it is vital that you do not let the monomer come into contact with the skin. So when you are using it to clean your brushes, always wear gloves to protect your hands.

Place a small amount of liquid monomer in a container. Rub the brush on your fingers and then dip it into the monomer. This will eliminate any dressing that has built up. Once you have dipped it in the monomer, dry it on a paper towel. It is recommended that you repeat this two times to ensure that it is thoroughly cleaned. Also remember to shape the brush before it fully dries out as otherwise the acrylic will clog it up.

Overall looking after your nail salon brushes can be hard work. However if you do not follow the directions mentioned above, they will not last long and you will not produce good results.
